Log Canoe Demolition derby for the Boardman Olympics!

Well it’s all said and done, the season went by in a flash! A great sailing season it was as well, aside from a hurricane. This closing weekend awarded the Higgins, Commodore, and Bartlett trophies as three separate races, plus several season-long perpetual trophies.

1st Race (Saturday, September 13th)

Jay Dee got the gun!

2nd Race (Saturday, September 13th)

Mystery got the gun! It was a drifter that came down to minutes before the 2.5-hour time limit expired — Mystery finished just in time, extending the limit another 45 minutes for Silver Heel and Island Blossom to sneak in behind her before the cutoff.

3rd Race (Sunday, September 14th)

Island Lark got the gun! Only 6 canoes competed in this last race of the day and the season, a rough and shifty one. Island Bird had capsized in the previous race and was unable to compete.

Having some computer issues, so I will post the final weekend’s results and update the highpoint scoreboard ASAP… Post in the forums anything you’d like, or any questions you have. We have a wealth of knowledge to share among our Log Canoe community!!

After tropical storm Hanna brought some rain and a few large gusts of wind, conditions calmed down enough for racing. The planned back-to-back-to-back format was re-evaluated and reduced to two races on Sunday, with the third race made up the following weekend immediately after the Bartlett Cup race.

1st Race (Sunday, September 7th)

Island Blossom got the gun! A close finish between Island Blossom and Jay Dee, with Island Lark right behind both.

2nd Race (Sunday, September 7th)

Jay Dee got the gun! Mary Julia Hall came out for this race — sailing only her jib and foresail, she still finished the course.

3rd Race (Sunday, September 14th)

Rescheduled to the last race of the season, immediately following the Bartlett Cup race.
